Secret Apple Pie

The secret is in the spices! A comforting classic with a twist.
Ingredients
Pastry
- 350g flour
- 225g butter
Filling
- 1kg apples (Bramley are best)
- 140g sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- 3 tbsp flour
Instructions
- Rub the butter into the flour, then mix in 2-3 tbsp water to make a dough. Chill.
- Peel, core and slice the apples. Toss with sugar, cinnamon and flour.
- Roll out half the pastry and line a pie dish. Add the apples.
- Roll out the rest of the pastry and top the pie. Seal edges.
- Bake at 200C/180C fan/gas 6 for 15 mins, then reduce to 180C/160C fan/gas 4 and bake for another 45 mins.
