Secret Apple Pie

The secret is in the spices! A comforting classic with a twist.

Ingredients

Pastry

  • 350g flour
  • 225g butter

Filling

  • 1kg apples (Bramley are best)
  • 140g sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 3 tbsp flour

Instructions

  1. Rub the butter into the flour, then mix in 2-3 tbsp water to make a dough. Chill.
  2. Peel, core and slice the apples. Toss with sugar, cinnamon and flour.
  3. Roll out half the pastry and line a pie dish. Add the apples.
  4. Roll out the rest of the pastry and top the pie. Seal edges.
  5. Bake at 200C/180C fan/gas 6 for 15 mins, then reduce to 180C/160C fan/gas 4 and bake for another 45 mins.
